This site is looking a bit sad at the moment. I have had a redesign of all my brochures etc. and I am awaiting the magical touch of my daughter to put it all to rights. Hopefully the site will be easier to use and I will update all the info.

A couple of weekends ago I went up to Dungog for the Quiltaram and had a wonderful weekend meeting up with old friends and new.

I also met a lovely group of ladies from Stroud who organise the Stroud Interlude and I will be going up to see how this amazing event is run in September.

At the moment I am working on a series of small mixed media quilts as another workshop option.

Here is the first that uses pieces from my scrap box and some new hand dyed threads.

I am working away on the second and have stamped up some border pieces, now have to wait for my order of paint sticks to arrive so I can give it a bit of zing.

Congratulations to Kay from the Patch Happy Quilters group who won a first prize for her Yoda quilt at the Newcastle Show.

Dungog Quilt Show and Workshop Places.

A quick reminder that there is still time to send me information if you would like to display your quilt at Quiltarama this year. I don't need the quilt until September, but e mail me with a description of the quilt by the middle of next week - 4th August.
Also I am running a combined quilt and dye weekend up at Main Creek from the 26th - 28th November. There are a few places left so if you are interested please let me know.

I would like to share some very exciting news with you.
Renae from the Patch Happy Quilters entered a quilt into the Newcastle Show this year and got a 2nd place in the novice section.
Renae made this quilt up at Main Creek using the Fractured Blues pattern and her own beautiful selection of fabrics. I remember it well as there is lots of random cutting and piecing in this quilt and Renae "doesn't do random" LOL, but she overcame her aversion to randomness and produced this stunning quilt.
Congratulation Renae, can't wait to see what you make for next years show.

Here are  few pictures of the bag and book cover the Patch Happy Quilters will be making in early May.
I have made this using a piece of wadding as it is quite a big cover. If you want a stiffer cover, and I find this works better on smaller pieces, then use timtex or something similar.
You will also notice there is no angelina fibers used on this piece either, again I think this works better on smaller pieces.
I love to add lots of embelishing, so start looking through all your bits and bobs for braids, thread and anything else you may want to use.

I look forward to seeing you all in May for another wonderful weekend.

As you can see, the Main Creek blog has had a revamp. All the information is now organised on pages which you can see on the right hand side. I am still getting all the brochures and other information loaded so that you can download straight from the blog, more time consuming than I ever thought possible.
On the home page I will post anything new happening at Main Creek, new projects and anything else of interest - so check back often. There is a new quilt to go on the Quilting page, with another in the making. Also a new bag and book cover that can be done as a Dye and Make weekend, more information on that one coming soon.
Please leave a comment if you visit, I would love to hear what you think of the new look for the blog.
For now I need some fresh air - the sun has come out so I'm off to check the garden.
